Been long since I updated , and the reason is a good one
I was busy constructing a cover for my new LED TV( which my hubby presented me
)…As a surprise I received my LED TV and from the very next day it arrived, I wanted to create a quilt cover to cover the Television when not in use.. So I got to work , it took me some good whole days of my time but at the end , the result was pretty.. All I used is quilt scraps leftover from my previous quilt, old bed sheet not in use as the backing…, thread and a sewing machine to stitch ( also did some hand stitching
)
And this is how it looks..
So what do you think about it

Cake in the Shape of Rose !! – Can you bake one ?
It was during the season of tulips, when one of my brother came to me and said –“ I have a surprise party for your sis-in-law’s birthday which is arriving soon, can you bake a cake for the day ?”.
I was so delighted I said – absolutely, what kind of cake do you have in mind.
He said I need something in the shape of a flower, how about a Rose.
If we got to think A cake in the shape of rose , it sounds how can one make that. Well it sounds impossible but isn’t. At first even I was thinking how will I bake and craft this cake. I was thrilled with his idea but on the other side I was a little tensed (actually very tensed
) thinking I have said yes to bake, but how will I
.
Since these days baking and trying out new craft is my new passion, I thought why not give a try . With the spirit of baking and excitement
I said to him, count me in.
I started searching online for Rose shaped Cakes. At first I found cakes with roses on it, which he dint approve of. Then I found two cakes made in the shape of rose. Among which he liked one, and so did I. Phew it was one heck of a search. Took me long to find out. I did find out the picture, but I was not able to get the instructions – how to make the cake. Now I was in trouble again, lots of sleepless nights thinking of how to work on. At last the day before the event arrived. Seeing me trying so hard, my sweet hubby agreed to lend me some hand, since he is good with designing as seen in the Cricket Bat cake, I had no worries anymore
..
After a long thought of how to make this cake we started –
First we cut a layout of the bud on a cardboard measuring the cake pan, mine was 8”x3” round cake pan. As we see while making a gumpaste rose, the bud is 1/3rd of the petals,so we also cut the layout of the bud measuring the same assuming that when we craft it , it is 1/3rd of the round petals.
Baked a 8”x3” Round cake- Mango Eggless Cake and cooled it for two hours in refrigerator to set.
Once the cake was cooled, We crafted it to the shape of a bud, using a seriated knife. Later placed it on a round cake board and covered it with butter cream icing.
Now Roll out some Red fondant mixed with white gum paste (50:50). This time I used Satin Ice fondant. I pre-ordered the colors white and red from www.globalsugarart.com , it made my work lot easier. A little expensive but worth it.
Cut out big round shape petals; I used my storage round box as the cutter (like the Pyrex round box).
We did lots of trial and error atlas we decided to cut out the petals first and then set it on to the cake just as how the gumpaste rose is made. We cut approx 12 petals for this cake. It was difficult at first to set the petals. It took us more than 2 hrs to figure out how to keep up the shape of the petals, Since it was half fondant and half gum paste it took long time to dry , but eventually after a while it dried. (Note : If you trying this cake, make your petals thinner in size, dont be afraid to fold it, once all the petals have been placed you can curve it as you want, mine where a little thicker, so took lot of time to dry). I used folded tissue sheets to insert between each petal to keep the shapes of the petals overnight.
I added Brown ropes
Leaves to give it a beautiful touch, I also covered the board with green fondant
And added an extra leaf for the message – “A Rose for a Rose”
Finally, my cake was ready – Tada – ![]()
Phew one difficult cake of all times.
At the end It was fun to make this cake
. The final cake weighed 3.5lbs, Width – 8” height – 10” Tall…
Hence, this was the story of my rose project
Hope you enjoyed, if you need any info on this cake dont hesitate to ping me.. until next time Happy Baking and Keep Smiling

Wednesday it is today. All I wanted to do from the time I woke up is paint guess I was dreaming about painting all night
. So I decided to do some artistic work (tough I am not so good with brushes and paint , I still love to paint and sketch
). As soon as my sweetheart left to work, I got my paints and brushes out from the attic .
Thought for a while what shall I paint . Shall I sketch something and color or shall I repaint my wall hanging. Just as my mind wondered around to find something to paint on, there it was, my wall mirror , as soon as I saw that I wanted to paint it
Now, I had with me a Wall Mirror, some Crayola water based colors and brushes. At first I was a little hesitant to paint on the sides of the mirror, thinking if I would spoil it. But than I spoke myself into it saying – "Until and unless I don’t try how will I know If I spoiled it
. Sometimes its fun to try out new stuff
And thus my Wednesday began

My Effect

Finally my painting was done it took me long, as I was not sure what I was doing funny isn’t it
. At the end when I saw the work I did, I felt well not bad I spoiled it in a beautiful way (Smiling)
– Alas My Wednesday Dream came true:)
