First of all Thank you for visiting my website
and later connected it to wordpress for an annual fee. Even though at wordpress you have access to only few custom templates to work with for free I like them. If you need more specific and unique ones you need to pay for extra features, which is all on your choice of selection if you need it you get it 
I really don’t mind, I would be more than happy to help. I was at the same stage when I started, very confused about where to begin from, what to do and to which website I should select to start with. Initially I tried http://www.blogger.com – this site is cool. It allows you to upload your own templates for free, I started here but later I chose WordPress.com – This website is also free just like blogger.com to start with.
I like wordpress as it allows me to have my own personalized domain name for which I have to pay an yearly fee. I purchased the domain name from godaddy.com, you can also purchase it from wordpress but somehow that worked out best for me
